How to Prepare for CAT Without Coaching | Free Self-Study Blueprint
Self-study beats paid coaching when the stack is right. This blueprint lays out the zero-cost book list, the weekly cadence that actually compounds, and where adaptive practice replaces the feedback loop a classroom would normally give you.
Step 1 — Diagnostic baseline (Week 0)
Take one full-length mock cold. Do not study beforehand. This is your baseline. Log section scores, accuracy, time spent, and — crucially — which questions you guessed vs knew. That error log is your roadmap.
Step 2 — Book stack (zero cost)
You need ~6 core books. Library/PDF/used copies keep it free.
- QA: Arun Sharma (Arithmetic/Algebra/Geometry) + NCERT 9–10 for basics.
- VARC: RC: Aeon/Guardian/EPW archives (free); VA: Arun Sharma/Nishit Sinha.
